Successful development
In 1975, the family enterprise K. + U. Hofstetter AG founded Hofstetter Umwelttechnik AG. The company operated cement and gravel works and worked at this time with partners, including landfill site operators, to develop degassing systems to overcome the problem of bad smells. Thanks to the company’s gifted engineers, there followed a new generation of modern degassing plants for landfill sites, with the focus on combustion technology. Soon Hofstetter became the first port of call for customers seeking solutions for extracting and disposing of gases from landfill sites. With visionary farsightedness, creative inventiveness and enormous energy, Hofstetter Umwelttechnik AG has developed to become today one of the world’s leading providers of gas flaring systems.
Since 2007, Hofstetter Umwelttechnik AG has been part of Green Gas Holding B.V. Green Gas is an international clean energy and climate change mitigation company that specialises in converting harmful methane emissions from coal mines and landfill sites into clean energy and valuable carbon credits.
Founded in 2005, Green Gas has grown rapidly through natural growth and a series of mergers and acquisitions. Green Gas has combined more than 50 years of international experience to enable it to provide world-class fully-integrated solutions for coal mine methane and landfill gas projects. Green Gas currently operates around 50 projects worldwide at combined electrical power capacity of over 120 MWel.
